The Exchange Semester – An Appreciation Post

So, I’ve never really posted anything anymore since we’ve come back from Rotterdam. Nevertheless, I want to write down a little conclusion/appreciation of our time in the Netherlands.

When I think about how excited I was hearing that my exchange definitely would happen I did never think that it would go as it finally has. Unbelievable how much has changed in the last 6 months. And I’m pretty sure it has not only changed our plans in Rotterdam but also your plans in your life.

Yet, the last six and a half months have been so so nice and I’d do it all over again for sure. To sum it up I want to make a little list of pictures of all the good things (I’m already missing) of our adventure:

•Being able to go any- and everywhere by bike•
•Always discovering new things in the city•
•Learning about the history of Rotterdam and the Netherlands•
•Our weekly (bike-)trips to surrounding places•
•Cooking like real chefs (especially having the time to make gnocchi)•
•Being close to family•

•Studying the coolest stuff at university and designing presentations on it•

•And having the feeling that the world is at our feet•

I’d never change anything of what we’ve done in Rotterdam. I really got to know and learn to love the city.

“Once I heard that Amsterdam is a city you fall in love with at first sight. With Rotterdam it is not the same. It is a second sight kind of love. But a love that stays forever.”

We will go back for sure and I’m already looking forward exploring even more. Like going out and partying until the sun comes up again. 😉
