When in April I got the opportunity to set together a little show for a primary school here nearby, I immediately said yes. In the following weeks I got a little insecure about it all. The goal was to dance with 17 girls from the age 6 to 11. The thought of creating a dance for such different ages and hoping they all would find it fun creeped me out.
The hardest part was finding the music and then coming up with the choreography. I chose a song from the movie „the greatest showman“ and one from Meghan Trainor. In total I invested about 8 to 10 hours into the choreographies.
Finally it was time. I got a window time of 13 hours to teach them both choreographies and prepare the dances for the show.
These girls were so good, I couldn’t believe it. They were motivated and really gave everything all the time. Then it was time to present what we had prepared to their parents, friends and teachers. I probably was the most nervous of them all.
Thank you to the ones who made this week and opportunity possible for me. It definitely was one of the many highlights of this year.
sadly I haven’t taken any pictures that week …
