(nl) De zomercursus vond plaats aan de Universiteit Gent. We brachten om die reden ook veel tijd in de stad Gent zelf door. Op een van de eerste dagen kregen we een rondleiding door de stad en werden we verwelkomt door de burgemeester. De stad heeft veel te bieden en wordt ook wel Europa’s best bewaarde geheim genoemd. Die titel vind ik zeker van toepassing omdat ik voor die twee weken eigenlijk geen benul had hoe leuk Gent is. Het historische centrum is een hoogtepunt op allerlei vlakken. Je kunt er winkelen, lekker uiteten maar ook feesten zijn er genoeg. Met de onderaan staande foto’s geef ik je een kleine digitale rondleiding door de stad.
(eng) The summer school was positioned at the University of Ghent. Therefore, we had some time to explore the city. On one of the first days after arrival we enjoyed a tour through Ghent and the mayor of Ghent took the opportunity of welcoming us. Ghent has a lot to offer and is worth of the following title: Europe’s best kept secret. Before heading off to the summer school I had no idea what town Ghent would be and was positively surprised about it’s beauty. Particularly the historical centre is worth the visit. Shopping, dining and partying – you can do it all with beautiful ancient buildings surrounding. With the following pictures I want to give you a little tour through Ghent.
